Gamification

Welcome to gamification! This is a glimps of how math is brought to life through gamification—a powerful approach that transforms learning into an interactive and rewarding experience. Math isn’t just about solving equations—it’s about solving challenges, earning achievements, and leveling up skills just like in a game!

Side Quests

Side Quests are stand alone teacher designed lessons that appear once per quarter. Students are challenged to solve a problem using mathematical tool, modeling, or reasoning and will most likely return home with an artifact from their lesson.

Minecraft Education

They don’t teach math like they used to. Explore area and perimeter or sharpen your skills working with fractions using Minecraft Education. Highly recommended for extra practice!

Discovery Education

Experience immersive learning through Discovery Education. Augmented reality will change your perspective on how math integrates into everyday life. Students will pilot a variety of 3D settings exploring professions requiring math, science, and technology in a uniquely motivational experience.

Unit 2: Algebraic Inequalities

The 35 project is a game designed to engage students with inequalities, number lines, and algebraic modeling.  Students take 3 turns each rolling a set of dice trying to get as close to the number 35 as possible without going over.  The full lesson can be accessed in the link below before accommodations and modifications.  Class winner keeps their dice!

Card Games

Playing cards are a frequent tool used to help support math education.  Students reinforce how to combine like terms, battle for high scores, make matches, and invent their own games.  Specialty teacher created decks are Unit 2: Inequalities and Unit 3: Linear Functions.
